A well-built older desk stripped back and refinished in a warm amber tone, given a second life rather than replaced.
Not every project starts with rough lumber. This desk had good bones — a bank of solid drawers, a shaped base and a drawer over the knee space — but a tired finish.
It was stripped back and refinished in a warm amber tone that brings the figure in the top back to life, then finished with dark metal pulls. Restoring a piece like this keeps well-made furniture in use, often for less than buying new.
