Maple Cabinet with Bowtie Inlays
Bowtie
A maple entry cabinet with a thick, butcher-block-style top, its natural cracks held by five contrasting zebrawood bowtie inlays.
The top is glued up from strips of maple with plenty of natural character, including checks running along its length. Rather than hide them, bowtie inlays — also called butterfly keys — are set across the cracks to stop them spreading, and turned into a feature.
Below, a full-width drawer sits over two shaker doors with brushed-steel pulls. It’s sized for a front hall, where it catches keys, mail and everything else that comes in the door.
