Walnut Built-In Wardrobe

Bookmatch

A walnut wardrobe built into a closet opening, with bookmatched door panels, a bank of five drawers and brass pulls.

Bookmatching means slicing a board and opening it like a book, so the two halves mirror each other. On the tall doors, the grain meets in the middle in a pattern like an hourglass.

Beside them, five drawers sit under a pair of small doors, all in frame-and-panel construction with slim brass pulls. The unit fills the closet opening wall to wall, turning an ordinary closet into a piece of furniture. A natural void in one door frame was left in place as a reminder that it’s solid wood.
